How to select a power management component for your application

Find what Richtek can offer to accelerate your design time with this Richtek Tutorial Video.
Duration:11:25 (English, with user selectable subtitles)

In this Video :
What is Power Conversion?

Selecting a right power management component depends mostly the input and output conditions of the application.
Is the input AC or DC? Is input voltage higher or lower than required output voltage? Fixed or fluctuating load? Is the application sensitive to noise? Does your application need to be short-circuit proof? These are just some of the criteria that will influence the component choice.

Power Management IC Selection Criteria

Richtek has a large portfolio of LDOs (linear regulator) and switch-mode DCDC converters. The table below shows a quick view on general selection criteria for LDO and DCDC products. The first step in the design is to consider the input and output (VIN to VOUT) condition. Based on specific application requirements, thermal considerations, efficiency, noise sensitivity and circuit complexity, an optimal power solution can be selected.

New Products

RT8096A / RT5796A are low voltage 1A/1.5A, 1.5MHz CMCOT™ Buck converters available in T/SOT23-5 and T/SOT23-6 packages (w/Pgood).
The 2.5V – 5.5V input range makes them suitable for single cell Li-Ion battery, and CMCOT™ (Current Mode Constant-On-Time) control loop provides best transient response and robust loop stability with MLCC output capacitors.

RT4503/A are white LED current mode boost converters for hand-held devices with a 36V/1.2A power switch capable of driving 10 WLEDs from 2.5V – 5.5V input, available in a tiny DFN-6L 2x2 package.
RT4503 supports PWM-Analog dimming, while RT4503A supports 32 step pulse dimming. Ideal for any Li-Ion battery powered LED application.
